Born in 20.01.1981 in the city of Tbilisi. Left musical school after Sayat-Nova as a clarinet player (his teacher being Suren Shindyan). Then kept on studying in theYerevan State Conservatoire being involved both with clarinet classes (tutor Levon Brutyan) and composition classes (tutor Levon Chaushyan). At present he is a soloist in the State Philharmonic Orchestra and State soloists ansamble of Armenia.In1997 he formed the “Ulikhanyan Quintet” and became its artistic director,arranger and composer.

He continuedstudying in the Yerevan State Conservatoire (tutor Al. Manukyan).On graduating the Conservatoire he was called up in the Armenian militaryorchestra of headquarters. Has got experience in the State Jazz Orchestra of Armenia.At musical school after Spendiaryan he worked as a saxophone teacher. Many timeshas been invited to the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia as a soloist.
Vardan Ulikhanyan - piano
Born in 1983 in the city of Yerevan. Left musical school after Sayat-Nova as a pianist (his teacher being Lyana Gasparyan), then he entered the Yerevan State Conservatoire, attending Villy Sargsyan’s classes. His studies have been interruptedfor a time as he serves in the Armenian military orchestra of headquarters. Has been a piano player in the “Ulikhanyan Quintet” since 1998
Edgar Avetisyan - bass
Born in 1980 in Yerevan. In 2002 graduated from the Yerevan State Conservatoireafter Komitas (tuba).Being a student he was also profoundly involved with the guitar playing. Has been workingin the Radio and TV Jazz Orchestra of Armenia since 1999. Performed in many jazz festivals. In 2003 became a member of the “Ulikhanyan Quintet”.
Armen Avetisyan - drums
Began playing percussion instruments at the age of 14. In 1994 graduated fromYerevan Pops Jazz Art College excellently and started working at the same collegeas a drum teacher till 1999.In 2003 graduated from Yerevan Art University. Collaborated and performedin concerts with vocal and instrumental group “Popular”, symphony orchestraconducted by Loris Chgnavoryan, as well as with Georgy Minasyan, FloraMartirosyan, Perch Turabyan and Mr. X..At present is employed in the Radio and TV Jazz Orchestra of Armenia, participatingin CD recordings and concerts with Ara Gevorgyan and “Ulikhanyan Quintet”.
